Obituary of Joseph Ethelbert Degenstien

Joe was born in Scott, Saskatchewan on August 25, 1926, to Gabriel and Barbara Degenstien. He passed away peacefully on March 11, 2024, at the Provost Health Center at the age of 97.

He married Pauline Wagar in 1950 and together they had 7 children.

Joe will be forever missed and remembered by his children, Barbara, Thomas (Joan), Patricia (Herb), Robert (Cathy), John (Denalda) and Mervin (Andrea); nineteen grandchildren, Shawn, Jody, Jordan, Joshua, Allison (Clinton), Jennifer (Curtis), Joey (Tanice), Scot (Sherri), Annette, Allan, Craig (Megan), Stuart (Kelly), Michael (Kara), Kristen (Dan), Steven, Adam, Ryan, Bronwyn and Kelton; thirty-six great grand children, Keegan, Audrey, Austin, Cassidy, Cole, Ashley, Anderson, Gracelyn, Pherson, Cruz, Hadley, Houston, Cooper, Sienna, Nash, James, Evan, Gavin, Jackson, Hannah, Sophia, Maya (Wyatt), Chase, Reece, Dane, Benjamin, Caleb, Avery, Riley, Madden, Quinn, Brooks, Everly, Ava, Lexie and Colt; brother, Bill Degenstien; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Bill Surmon; sisters-in-law, Judy Dancey and Eileen Wagar; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, his Homecare family, and everyone that called him Grandpa Joe.

Joe was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Pauline; son, Richard; granddaughter-in-law, Delicia; parents, Gabriel and Barbara; siblings, Victorina, Isabella and Bob Ferry, Toots and Harry Hillis, John and Helen Degenstien, Jim Degenstien, Marky and Edith Degenstien; sister-in-law, Marie Degenstien; and nephews, Edward Degenstien, Albert Ferry, and Buddy Dancey; and in-laws, Audrey and Paul Wagar, Ellaine Reid, Bud Wagar and Don Dancey.
